Oe man, we need to reach some consensus regarding the Abilities section of each character. I for my part prefer to put them after the storyline and stuff, for many reasons, one that if putting them at the very beginning of a page, it kind of acts as a temptative spoiler for those who want to read other things, also most character pages in wikias, and even the most "basic" example like Comic Wikipedia pages, seem to follow this rule.
So if you don't have any trouble I'd like to move the abilities section of each character below their plot section.
Well that is one reason, I've deleted mostly everything that talks about "the different worlds" too early in a page, and leave it only at the end of a page's plot. But not the only one, and while the concept of Wikis itself mean spoilage, it is a general idea to "warn" or to be careful about certain aspects that just don't outright kill the fun of viewers that are new to any franchise.
While your point in the other chat is valid, people mostly read plot overview, personality and other aspects, before going into abilities themselves which otherwise serve to mostly clarify things, although it isn't uncommon for the opposite to happen.
This is the first Wikia I've adminstrated, and I've seen and learned many things as an editor in other wikias. I may be a bit over-safe in some points, but I prefer to make things right.
Your feedback is very appreciated on that regard =)
You know what, on second thought imma leave it as it is for now, :P. I've been thinking your point and it could serve to stand a bit more from wikis. For now imma leave it in your style, until it is brought into question again, if not, then it means there is no real issue about it, as I've seen a couple of wikis have abilities rather early on the page.
So yeah, let's stick to it for now, sorry for bothering you.
Personally, I hafta agree with BG on this. The abilites section, if put before the plot synopsis, can provide too much spoilers. Like for instance, Yukiteru. He becomes a god like at the end of the series and therefore, he gains the abilities of a God of Time & Space. Practically the whole story is about who will become god and that just gives it away. Since this is not resolved yet, I'm just givin' my two cents on this.
Based on that, since we've pretty much handled most of the "Third World" spoilage, which is the most relevant plot of the series. I believe that removing that info and saving it for the very end of the respective pages, spoilage can be kept to a minimum. Besides what we detailed are more general abilities. God-like powers last a really short time and are pretty of "doing a bit of everything" so it is not really something that needs further detailing.
For now let's just leave it in the order Evil suggests, as at the moment it is doing no real harm besides not following a more generic-order amongst wikis and wikipedia itself.
If by any instance issues appear, it can be further re-evaluated.
Well, alright, let's keep it as Evil suggests. (Instead we should be focusing on the refs, huh.) Oh, and BG, while I have your attention, about the John Balks to John Bacchus thing, I agree with you that we needa change it. Should we start soon? I have a friend who has a bot who can search through this whole wiki and manually change Balks to Bacchus, actually, without cluttering up the wiki activity.
Regarding the Anime and Manga debut issue/episode for the Diary Owners, I believe that would be better to indicate the issue/episode in which they were first unmasked or revealed to the audience, rather than just the episode where their silhouette appeared when Deus first announces the Survival Game.
By doing that, it would be much easier to locate the issue/episode at hand, which would allow viewers to browse the characters' involvement in the episode contextually.
Ok, Esmorax came with an interesting idea, that can set us apart from other Wikis, while not disegarding anything in particular. He came with the idea with an Image Gallery per episode. I'm somewhat supportive of this because, that way images are not lost there to die in uselessness, while also show a bigger picture as most wikis select the most important images, in which others that are also important are disregarded hierarchy-wise.
This means a bit more of work, but I'm sure it can pay off, eventually in how the pages ultimately look like. Now there are three options for this:
1) Is easy, we just don't go with this.
2) We add image gallery and ONLY image gallery for any images pertaining to that page.
3) We add image gallery AND images in the midst of the content.
I personally support the third one. What do you think guys? Of course these 3 options are rather arbitrary and does not mean it is all we can do, further ideas to strengthen them or another new one are also well received.
I'd say we do the 3rd option as well. The Image Gallery is of course important. Adding images in the midst of the content can also improve the page by making it look by visual, simply by choosing the pics that are impt to that section. As for the image gallery, where do you suggest we put it? Should it be in a tab format just like the character image galleries?
Hmmmm, nah, I'd say a gallery section without tab can be done, as overall characters gallery sections are bigger as they have images from mostly all media, episode only of anime and chapters of manga. I'd say no more than 9-10 images per gallery would be good in the case of these two pages.
Ah ok gotcha. Good, we got this planned out then. Btw, the character template is working fine for Yukiteru Amano's page. If you like it, I'll add the templates to the other characters' articles.
Yes, that's the idea. Put NO more than 9 images in a gallery, and all of them ordered like the characters image galleries. Of course images on the gallery must be different than those on the text and possible-template for episode/chapters
Hey Giddy (or whatever nickname you want me to call you xD), I was thinking about something. Ya know how Maxie have been such a great help to us and stuff? I was thinking bout giving him some adminship rights. He's been working real hard. Also, he can help us with the background of the wiki. So what do you think?
If you can add an image for background to make this a bit more colourful. The template of the main page is good, but we still have 2 big and plain blue-coloured squares with nothing. You have email? Cuz I wanna see if one image in particular will work.
Yeah, Lau said he needed to be admin to do that. So maybe he knows. Btw can I ask you to put some references in the meanwhile? For now im filling gaps and adding content to some pages, and later I have to go to the medic. Can you or are you busy?
